Yoga Shrine

I posted the other day some Boho bedroom inspiration. Part of my bedroom I have started a little yoga area. I call it my shrine. I use to do yoga upstairs but I have found it way more relaxing doing it in my bedroom. Right after I drop the kids off at the bus stop I head straight to "The Shrine" and do some yoga. Usually Boomer, my youngest is right there next to me doing it with me. It is really cute although sometimes distracting for me. You can see in some of the pictures I have my laptop where I follow a video. I have some favorites from youtube I will share in a different post. The mirror is great for checking my posture. I am currently looking for a bigger mirror because the one I have is too small. It is great for when I am on the floor but when I stand up I can not see myself. More plants will be incorporated too!

I put some oils in my diffuser while I do yoga. You can see it to the right. Today I put-
Peppermint for clear breathing and breathe awareness.
Frankincense for a deeper spiritual cleansing
Lavender for calming and relaxing.

Candle are always a nice touch to everything

I added some my my own personal touch. Some shells,a mermaid (can't see, it's on the table) and my Buddha. I think it is so important to have your house with things you love. I love walking into someones house and seeing their soul and not a stage you see in the mall.

Hope you are having a great week!

Healthy Food Shots Lately

Here are some healthier food options from the last month. I know my blog is about healthy eats but I just wanted to say I do eat unhealthy foods BUT it is definitely not all the time or everyday. I try to to eat the unhealthy things in moderation. I think everyone should indulge at least a couple times a week just watch your portion control!

Here is a tomato and roasted red pepper soup I got from Trader Joe's. I use it as a base and ad whatever vegetables I have in my fridge with a protein. I added tofu for the protein, okra and a frozen veggie pack of carrots, peas and corn with some fresh basil. I let it simmer til the veggies were soft. You can add chicken and it would be really good :)

My friend made this really good red quinoa dish. You can get the recipe here.

Here is some Chipotle Hummus with Tabbouleh and a romaine lettuce salad with green peppers and carrots.

My grocery cart from Trader Joe's. I really miss having one right down the street. The chicken drumsticks are ridiculously cheap, they are all natural and only about $3. Avocados, Quinoa and Coconut water are a must at all times in my house.

EATING OUT!! I love indulging when eating out, when I actually love it! Every time I eat out I am always unsatisfied because I feel like home cooked meals are better. We ate out at an Mexican restaurant and I almost always order ceviche. It is not too high in calories except for the tortilla. I ate one of these and brought the rest home.

Here is a salad I made with black bean/mixed grain pattie I had posted last week. I get the pattie and add a salad on top with some dresssing. You can get the recipe for the patties here.

An easy way to be healthier is to add vegetables. Eating just pasta is not very good for you. Adding a salad or some steamed vegetables makes all the difference and of course myglass of VINO!

Hope you are having a great week!!

Taste of the Mediterranean

I went to a Mediterranean restaurant this week with my friend called Marrakesh and I can not tell you how good it was. From the tabbouleh, fava beans, hummus, chicken, rice, baba Ganoush, pita bread, rice wrapped in grape leaves and so much more I was in absolute heaven. I loved it so much I got inspired to make something similar to it.

Instead of garbanzo beans that is made in a usual hummas I used some black beans instead. All I did was smashed the beans until they were mashed and then added some olive oil, roasted garlic and salt and pepper. I tried using a minimal amount of oil but you can make it to your taste buds. I served it on my plate topped with green onions, cilantro, sliced red onions, sliced tomato and pita bread on the side.

I topped each pita like this and It was amazing.

Here is the plate from the restaurant. The kids and I shared this plate. They both loved the chicken and rice and of course my youngest tried everything!
