My husband and I love crumbles and cobblers. They are the easiest dish to bake and taste amazing. I made a crumble/cobbler the other day with persimmons and honey crisp apples that turned out great. This is great dish for Fall and a great Thanksgiving or Christmas dessert.
Filling
4 cups your choice fruit (I used fresh strawberries and peaches, you can use frozen also)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 orange juice ( any juice of your choice is good also)
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 tablespoon real vanilla extract
Cinnamon or nutmeg (optional)
4 cups your choice fruit (I used fresh strawberries and peaches, you can use frozen also)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 orange juice ( any juice of your choice is good also)
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 tablespoon real vanilla extract
Cinnamon or nutmeg (optional)
Mix together and place in oven dish
Topping
1 cups old fashion oatmeal
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 cup flour
1/3 cup flaxseed or hemp seed
Handful Almonds or your choice of nuts(optional)
1/2 tablespoon real vanilla extract
1 1/2 sticks cold butter cut up in chunks
1 cups old fashion oatmeal
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 cup flour
1/3 cup flaxseed or hemp seed
Handful Almonds or your choice of nuts(optional)
1/2 tablespoon real vanilla extract
1 1/2 sticks cold butter cut up in chunks
Mix first 5 ingredients together then add vanilla extract. Mix in butter until topping looks like crumbles. Place on top of fruit mixture. Bake at 350 degrees until brown. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Also you can use half white sugar but I prefer brown because I like the taste better.
My standard: Yum! :)
