Vietnamese Steak Salad

My moms here and of course has been cooking up a storm! She is the only person I know who will fly 3000 miles bringing a cooler full of food. She says she has to have good quality food, grass feed beef, organic chicken, etc. Of course I am not complaining! Everyone who has had my moms food absolutely loves it! Here is a dish she made last week. It is a common Vietnamese salad made with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions and steak. Recipe below.

Ingredients:

1 pound steak ( use whatever you prefer, my mom recommends London broil thinly sliced)

3-4 tablespoon Olive Oil

2 cloves garlic minced

1/2 md onion cut in quarters

1-2 tablespoons soy sauce (maggi is a good brand)

1 head Romaine Lettuce chopped

1 large Tomato cut in wedges or sliced

Dressing:

1/2 onion thinly sliced

1/2 lemon juiced

2 teaspoon sugar

1/4 water

Pinch salt

Directions:
Marinate meat in soy sauce with half of garlic and onions. Mix well.
Lay chopped lettuce on serving platter. Then lay tomatoes on top of lettuce. Set aside. Heat olive oil in pan on high heat. Add rest of garlic and onions. Stir and let brown a little. Add sliced steak. Stir consistently until done. Make sure you cook steak to your taste. Place steak on top of lettuce. This should wilt the salad a little.

Dressing:

Add all ingredients together in the pan where you cooked steak with the heat off. Mix well and pour on top of salad.
