Healthier Salad Dressings

I wanted to share some of my dressings I use for salads. I usually don't use regular salad dressing like ranch,etc. I don't use them because they are always high in fat and the salad dressing usually ends up being your whole meal. I tend to stick to marinades whether it is ginger or mango marinades even BBQ Sauce.I like the taste of marinades better. They have more flavor and they don't taste like pure cream. I found some Indian cooking sauce from Costco that I love. Sharwoods is a great brand because their ingredients are all natural and they have no preservatives. Another good way to make a clean eating salad is to cook your protein in the sauce, make sure you add extra and then top your salad with the remaining sauce.

Here is a quick salad I made with some romaine lettuce, shredded boiled chicken,cilantro,basil,sauerkraut,avocado,tomatoes and Havarti cheese. It was so good. I looooove dill Havarti. I topped it with some marinade with Sharwoods Butter Chicken.


 I love all the sauces. They have some for every kind of food and the flavor is authentic.

Pesto Tofu Salad

Healthy Food is fast food. When I prep food for a few days it is so easy is just throw a salad together. I'll wash and cut all my vegetables and fruit, you can see how I food prep HERE. My kids and husband love just going into the fridge and being able to grab pre cut fruit or vegetables. One of the reasons I think it's so easy to eat junk is because it is so easy to grab and eat. Chips are right there ready to go. If fruits and vegetables are right there ready to go it's a lot easy for us to eat healthy. A salad I put together in 5 minutes with the help of food prepping!

                              Pesto Tofu

Plain cut up tofu tossed with pre-made pesto from the grocery store. Lemon juice on top makes it really good. This is very healthy and the pesto make it taste amazing. Healthy food is good!

Steak Leftovers

A super easy way for me to eat healthy is salads. I know your probably feeling blahhhh when you hear that because I know salads can be boring! I definitely can relate, but for me it is all about the end result. Being able to discipline yourself or having self control is definitely worth all that hard work paying off in the end whether it is for losing weight, being healthy or just a mental challenge. I know eating healthy is very hard when you start in the beginning. You feel like your an alcoholic not being able to drink but after you start eating healthy on a regular basis all that junk and crappie food you ate will eventually sound gross to you! If your a junk food junkie and are trying to start eating healthy don't get angry with yourself for going off track! If your eating healthier then you were before then your off to a great start. Just keep it up and slowly add more healthy foods in your diet ;)
ON TO THE SALAD
 During the winter on cold days I always want something nice and hot to eat and eating a cold salad is just not satisfying! I will grab whatever vegetables I have in the fridge and cut them up. I will also get whatever protein I have as leftovers which was steak for me and sauté them in a pan, with olive oil and garlic until it is wilted. I'll pour some dressing (I used balsamic glaze below) and have a nice hot meal that is super lean and healthy!
* I try to not eat red meats too much and tend to replace it with chicken, beans or seeds. Everything in moderation!
